Descriptions

Exterior

A two-storey building, cement blocks on the bottom and stucco on the top, along with a red slate roof give this building a unique look. A rolling red awning, matching the color of the roof, has white letters on the front reading, "Athletic Club". Parking spaces line the side of the building, from corner to corner. On one side of the building is a set of double-doors leading inside. On the second floor are several windows. A tall sign between the parking lot and street reads "Athletic Club", and below it are stock letters showing the specials for the day.

First Floor

The first floor of the gym is filled with racks of weights, barbells, and kettlebells. Likewise, there are different styles of benches, some laying flat, and some at an angle for various workouts. On the other side of this floor are various workout machines, designed to work out almost any part of the body from shoulders to calves. All the walls are covered, from floor to ceiling, with mirrors kept meticulously clean. Fans hang from the ceiling, twirling lightly to keep the air moving throughout the floor. There are stairs leading up to the second floor located at the back of the room.

Second Floor

The second floor of the gym is filled with the cardio machines that most gyms have. Rows are separated into exercise bikes, treadmills, ellipticals, and stair machines. There are also rowing machines, but fewer than the rest and set into the back corner. A dozen televisions hang down from the ceiling, each showing a different show or news network, but all of them set on mute with subtitles. Fans hang down from the ceiling, swirling lightly to provide air movement to the upstairs area. There are two doors set to the side of the building where the locker rooms are located, each containing showers and lockers for the patrons to use.

Basement - Pool & Sauna

A large room sits at the bottom of the stairs, a low 10-foot ceiling sitting over a large Olympic-size pool. The reflection of the water bounces off the ceiling which has lights inset into it. Dark blue tile surrounds the edges of the pool, leading to off-white walls decorated with signs such as "No Running", and "No Diving This End". Set along at even intervals on either side of the pool are tall lifeguard chairs with lifejackets and life rings attached to them. There are a set of doors to the left of the pool leading to separate locker rooms for men and women. There is a third door marked with a sign over it which says, "Unisex Saunas".

A long hallway extends to a dead end which turns left towards the locker rooms. There are two doors on either side of the hall, wooden doors with a porthole-style window in the middle. Each door leads to a separate sauna room, and each room large enough to hold approximately eight people. The floor of the hallway is cement with drains set at even intervals, and the walls are an off-white tile. Each sauna room has wood paneling with a wood floor and wood benches. In the middle of the room is a circular heating element with a bucket of water and ladle sitting next to it. A sign on each wooden door reads, "Towels must be worn inside sauna rooms."
